Astrona shell

astrona shell

Open an isolated terminal (or run one command) for a Kind lab

Synopsis

Open an isolated container terminal with this Kind lab's credentials, so plain kubectl, helm, k9s, … talk to the lab — without changing your own kubectl current-context. Files are saved under ~/.astrona/runtime//work, mounted as /workspace. Your home directory and host tools are not mounted. Tools are downloaded on first use. Type exit to leave. $ASTRONA_LAB holds the lab name inside the shell (add it to your prompt if you like).

After --, runs that one command instead of a shell (no shell parsing).

A lab with linked clusters (runtime.kind.clusters) gets all of them: kubectl --context $ASTRONA_CLUSTER_<NAME>_CONTEXT reaches one. --cluster makes a linked cluster the default instead.

With no lab-name, uses the lab config from -c/--file/--git, or the only running kind lab. For qemu labs, use astrona ssh.

astrona shell [lab-name] [-- command [args...]] [flags]

Examples

  astrona shell my-lab
astrona shell -- kubectl get pods -A
  astrona shell my-lab -- k9s
  astrona shell my-lab --cluster idp

Options

--cluster string Make a linked cluster (its runtime.kind.clusters name) the default kubectl context
  -h, --help help for shell

Options inherited from parent commands

--accept-terms Accept this CLI's usage terms and data-loss risk notice; required on each operational CI command (read: astrona terms)
-c, --config string Path or URL to the lab config directory (with --git: a subdirectory within the cloned repo) (default ".")
-f, --file string Configuration file name override (default "config.yaml")
--git string Git repository URL to clone/pull (https://, git@host:, or ssh://) — --config then selects a subdirectory within it
--git-ref string Git branch, tag, or commit to check out (used with --git; default: the repo's default branch)
--headless Disable the terminal UI and CLI prompts; run/reset skip login reminders and new account sessions
--install-version If the lab needs another astrona release (astronaVersion) that isn't installed, install it without asking — for CI
--trust Approve running a remote (--git / URL) lab without asking — for CI; review the lab first
--update-check Check for new CLI releases (disabled in CI, without a terminal, or by ASTRONA_NO_UPDATE_CHECK) (default true)
--verbose Stream the full output of every underlying command instead of the compact step view
