Astrona net
astrona net¶
Change network conditions of a running lab's cluster (latency, loss, partition)
Synopsis¶
Change the network conditions of one cluster of a running kind lab — a linked cluster (--cluster
--latency/--jitter/--loss/--rate set conditions (tc netem on every node of the cluster) --partition drop everything it sends (100% loss) — it's unreachable --heal back to the lab config's wan conditions (or none) --show print what each node currently has
Latency is added once per round trip (it delays what the cluster sends). Changes last until --heal, astrona start (which re-applies the config) or the lab is destroyed. While a cluster is partitioned, astrona can't reach its API either.
Examples¶
astrona net my-lab --cluster idp --latency 300ms --jitter 50ms --loss 5%
astrona net my-lab --cluster idp --partition
astrona net my-lab --cluster idp --heal
Options¶
--cluster string The linked cluster (its runtime.kind.clusters name); default: the lab's own cluster
--heal Back to the configured wan conditions (or none)
-h, --help help for net
--jitter string Latency variation, e.g. 30ms (needs --latency)
--latency string Latency added per round trip, e.g. 200ms
--loss string Packet loss, e.g. 5%
--partition Cut the cluster off (100% loss)
--rate string Bandwidth cap, e.g. 1mbit
--show Show each node's current conditions
Options inherited from parent commands¶
--accept-terms Accept this CLI's usage terms and data-loss risk notice; required on each operational CI command (read: astrona terms)
-c, --config string Path or URL to the lab config directory (with --git: a subdirectory within the cloned repo) (default ".")
-f, --file string Configuration file name override (default "config.yaml")
--git string Git repository URL to clone/pull (https://, git@host:, or ssh://) — --config then selects a subdirectory within it
--git-ref string Git branch, tag, or commit to check out (used with --git; default: the repo's default branch)
--headless Disable the terminal UI and CLI prompts; run/reset skip login reminders and new account sessions
--install-version If the lab needs another astrona release (astronaVersion) that isn't installed, install it without asking — for CI
--trust Approve running a remote (--git / URL) lab without asking — for CI; review the lab first
--update-check Check for new CLI releases (disabled in CI, without a terminal, or by ASTRONA_NO_UPDATE_CHECK) (default true)
--verbose Stream the full output of every underlying command instead of the compact step view
